Located in Sete Lagoas, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, Tecnosulfur is Opta Group’s flagship production facility in Latin America, delivering advanced solutions and technologies to steelmakers and foundries across the region.

Since 1990, Tecnosulfur has been at the forefront of innovation in liquid metal treatment, combining technical excellence with a steadfast commitment to environmental responsibility and a safe, positive workplace culture.

Tecnosulfur became part of Opta Group in 2019, following the merger of SKW Metallurgie GmbH and Opta Minerals Inc. This partnership has elevated Tecnosulfur’s global presence and strengthened its ability to provide customers with the confidence and reliability of a trusted multinational partner.

In 2004, Tecnosulfur took a leading role in quality management by achieving ISO 9001 certification, ensuring that its products and services consistently meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements. That commitment expanded further in 2023 with the achievement of ISO 14001 certification, reinforcing the company’s dedication to reducing environmental impacts, complying with environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Demonstrating its leadership in sustainability, the Tecnosulfur facility has also transitioned to using 100% renewable electricity and 100% recycled packaging. Both are significant steps toward minimizing their environmental footprint. In that same year, Tecnosulfur earned the Great Place to Work® seal, recognizing its commitment to fostering a culture of trust, well-being, and professional growth. The facility has proudly been recertified each year since, underscoring its ongoing dedication to its people.
